Roe V. Wade
While responding to a post on social media today (FB) I realized that I am only contributing to the problem of not having face to face conversations. I am genuinely interested in opposing points of views - so I am no longer going to post them on social media - but here, in my safe space. Please feel free to share your views, whether I agree with them or not - you are safe here. You may change my mind. You may change another readers mind. Or, your own mind may start to change. But open dialog is desperately needed - so lets start.
I'm not real sure how I feel about the entire issue. I do believe that returning the power to the states as was originally intended was the right thing to do. If people don't like the laws in their own states, then they can vote in people that think like they do. That's how this entire thing is supposed to work. What saddens me is that this country is becoming more and more divided, and instead of talking face to face and trying to understand each others POV, everyone just assumes their POV is the correct one and everyone else is wrong. I think abortion is a personal choice - not to be broadcasted, discussed with family and family physicians and I think the government should stay the heck out of it. I won't comment on where I stand on abortion as a whole, but I think California is taking it too far by allowing abortion up until the day before birth, and also including after the birth - how is that not infanticide - but again, that is MY OPINION - you may or may not agree with me. As a mom who had preemie babies, I know what a 23 week old "fetus" looks like. Both sides though, have to realize that the other side also has a valid POV in THEIR OPINION - what is right for one person might not be right for another. When Obamacare was forced on everyone - we were lied to - we were told our providers wouldn't change (they did) they told us insurance would be cheaper and better (I now pay over $50,000 OUT OF POCKET, before my Obamacare Health Insurance kicks in) so that also was a lie. I'd prefer the government to stay far, far away from anything that has to do with forcing me to do anything against my will, including vaccines. To work or not is a CHOICE. Where to work is also a CHOICE. Any medical decision including an abortion should be MY CHOICE. NJ will allow all the abortions a woman wants - and that's fine, as long as its not FUNDED by ME ! That's where my issue comes in - because some women use abortion as birth control, and I don't agree with that. I also don't agree with a person having to pay for anyone else's abortion - so no taxes, no federal funds, no money from any person should go to fund any type of abortion clinic - and with certain states banning abortions - that will only drive more people to abortion clinics in states where it is allowable, allowing them to make a profit without the need of additional funding. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out - but having our representatives in government calling out for violence against the justices is just plain wrong. Changing the rules because things don't go your way is also wrong. I think everyone in government has forgotten that they are supposed to represent the people that voted them in, not their own opinions. I hope one day there is an independent choice on the ballot that is truly independent and won't make laws and decisions based on who gives him the most money -but on what is best for the overall health of this country. Big Government isn't working, but yet it continues to get bigger.
