Summer 2022

What an amazing summer - it was good to have him home.  Not many lifeguards get to compete in the lifeguard events - but he competed in nearly every single one.  The first one he actually got to row "out of town" which I learned was a big thing.  They didn't win, but it was a great experience for him!   He had a couple amazing saves during the summer and I got to relax on his beach a handful of times.

One Friday night he came home and told me his head man had suggested that he dress as a Pharaoh and they would carry him in the stand using the boat oars to pick the stand up.   Good thing Amazon ships quickly - we were able to pull this together over the weekend and by Monday he was ready for his action shot.  I have a video of them picking him up - it didn't work the first couple of times (their rookie was a little too weak so they borrowed a guard from the next beach over) This shot went into their yearly ad book - by far the best beach!  I really liked his headman - and I think he had a great summer!

This was taken at the last race.   I love the comradery that these guards share - always watching each others back.  They would cheer like crazy - even if they came in last place (not often). Adam competed in some type of swim even most of the races, and did well seeing as he really hasn't swam much in the past 5 years.   It was hard for me to take him back to school and drop him off - but he's with an entire floor of fellow crew members and I think they share the same type of comradery that his fellow guards share - so I know he's in a good place.   I will try really hard not to cry until I get to see him again for Thanksgiving - or maybe I'll take a road trip a little sooner !!
