Learning to Say No

Image
I am a people pleaser -which is odd because I don't really like people!  I know tons of people who say they don't like other people - but I really do not.  I don't trust most people, and for good reason.  Yet most times I'll still say "yes" when asked to do something.   But I'm learning to stand on my own two feet. Last weekend I helped with the High School's Erg-A-Thon because the head coach asked me to.   I actually like him as a person, even though he screwed up my son's senior year.  I do NOT like the assistant coach who is actually just a dad of another rower who graduated with my son.   I'll keep the why's to myself - but the head coach had wanted to take me to dinner tonight to thank me for helping last weekend, and also thank me for donating an erg.   I was going to go - because I'm going to need his help learning to row on the water this spring.  When I talked to him Monday - he never said he was inviting an...

Soul Searching

Image
Been doing a bunch of soul searching lately.   Trying to figure out why I let myself get to 360 pounds - what caused me to eat even when not hungry?   I'm sure it has to do with my childhood - I remember being so hungry that I regularly ate dried pasta uncooked because that's all I could sneak out of the house.   I thought I was soooo fat back then, but looking back, I wasn't - I was just freakishly strong.  It'll take a lot more soul searching, and maybe some therapy but at least I'm more aware. Same thing with working out.  Since Phil moved to Florida in August - I haven't worked out much at all.  It's just not the same.  I've tried to get back at it - but I'll find a million a one excuses - I'm really good at that.  I hired a new trainer after Phil left - he is a decent trainer, but young,  He's cancelled on me often - and while I get upset, since he's doing me a favor by getting there at 7 a.m. and hour before the pla...

New Year 2022

Image
What a way to start the New Year!!   Adam had a training trip at Stetson Univ in Florida, and like any good family member would - Leenah and I volunteered to travel to and from Florida with him, and while he'd be spending time with his fellow crew members - we'd rough it out at the spa.  Unfortunately Leenah had a mishap with her knee on New Years Even but was up for travel once she put her old brace back on.   Food was amazing !! We tried multiple new breakfast places - this one was a winner for sure !! We had pretty decent weather - never touched 80* but it was sunny enough to come home with a tan, relaxed and ready to start off 2022 healthier and happier !!
