We Have Baby Figs !!

 Remember these ?   Stuck them in some dirt a couple weeks ago?   Seems like they are putting out roots quickly !  Sad to have to cut off these baby figs, but I want the plants energy going into roots and eventually leaves and a stronger tree, so the baby figs are going to come off today.   

These are all from the white figs.   The brown turkey figs have shown no growth, no nothing, so they are still in their zip lock bags holding moisture.   Might put them on top of a seeding heat mat if they don't start to show signs of life soon.

Today I'll go out and trim the rest of the trees before they really start to grow.   Last couple of years I just let them grow free - but they've gotten so tall and so wide that it's hard to get all around them, I'd rather have fewer amazing figs so will be cutting off some of the older growth.  

Took my Mochi shot today.   Also ordered another 3-month refill - only because one of their compounding pharmacies has voluntary stopped filling refills at the moment, so all of the refills are being sent to other compounding pharmacies, and of course, with the number of people on these amazing meds - they are a little backed up.   It will change my dosage again, I'll be going from 6.6 which was what the Aquita pharmacy provided, to 7.5 with whatever pharmacy Mochi sends my script to.    Still feel amazing.  Funny - I know I'll have to eat less today as it kicks in, and tomorrow and Friday I won't be hungry at all - which is good since I'll be driving for 8 hours to go see Adam.  Yesterday I was able to go out to breakfast with the girls for my birthday, and was able to eat 1/2 of my steak and one egg (always focus on protein)   Dinner I had an Applebees salad with grilled chicken - again really good and I ate the whole thing.   If it had been closer to a shot day - I wouldn't have been able to - so I do have to keep in mind any special-special occasions in case I really want to be able to eat if that makes sense?  

Still haven't had a birthday cake - major win !!!!!

Design Wall Monday

I am so happy to have something to share this week.  About a month ago, I received some inspiration from another blogger on Design Wall Monday - hosted by Judy at Patchwork Times .  I immediately fell in love with the star quilt that Kate from Life in Pieces   had put together using the pattern from Country Junktion .  I knew immediately that I could use it as the center of a quilt, and finally use those garden maze blocks that were sitting in my UFO pile.  What do you think ? This is the quilt made from the BOM pattern alone This is that same quilt surrounded by my garden maze blocks I started sewing the garden maze blocks together to see how big of a border I will be needing around the star blocks.  Now to figure out if I should border around each block, or just around the outside of the stars - what do you think?

Design Floor Monday

Thanks to Judy at Patchwork Times , I'm encouraged each week to have something new to show on my design floor (most people have a design wall ..... one day when I grow up, I'll have one too !) This week I'm taking out some UFO's from 2 years ago - I love these blocks, I made plenty of them for a wall hanging, but then I just kept making more and more, until I knew I wanted a bed size quilt.  I was going to lay them out in a 5 by 7 blocks, but since these are 9" blocks - and since the blocks I want to make as a border block are 13" blocks - I thought maybe it'd be easier to do 6 by 6 - so I need to make one more of these.  Gotta figure out how to get this block into my EQ program, because this is the block I want to use as a border I was going to make a bunch of these, all with blue star middles, but with different batiks on the outside color.  Of course, I could do THESE blocks for the main part of the quilt and use the others as a border ....  eit...

Design Wall Monday

  A few weeks ago, Judy from Patchwork Times told her readers that there is NO EXCUSE not to learn how to make socks - with You Tube and the internet, it's almost like having someone sitting next to you teaching you. I've tried socks before - no luck. Maybe because I started with sock weight yarn, and it was too fine for my extra large hands?  Either way, my daughter asked me for a pair of warm sock slippers. Why not? Should be easy. I checked what I hand I on hand, found a pattern that seemed doable, and made these - Now of course, pinks/blues are definately not her colors, so after proving to myself that I could do it, I bought a more "her" color (as close to black as I could find) and whipped up these, in just two nights ! So, don't ever give up - cause if I can figure it out, anyone can !  Next week - back to quilting !  To see what others are working on, check out Judy's blog at Patchwork Times !
