Macros

All out of excuses - well, I could think of a billion excuses, but the reality is I like food.  I eat when I'm bored, or when I don't want to do what I know I should be doing - very rarely do I simply eat because I am hungry.  And lets not talk about the choices I've been making.... carrot cake for dinner, sure, why not?   Well - I've now gained back 58 pounds of the 130 pounds I had lost.   BUT - instead of going all the way back to where I was - I signed up for a Coach at Macro's Inc and I'm giving it 100%.  I may not be working out like I used to - although the shoulder doesn't hurt much, it's probably because I'm not using it!! So I made a deal with this young man when I dropped him off at school.  I would do whatever workout he does at college - if they do 20 sprints - I'll do 20 sprints.  No where near as fast as they are of course, but I'll put the same number of meters in each week that he does (except the running part, my knees are t...

Summer 2022

Image
What an amazing summer - it was good to have him home.  Not many lifeguards get to compete in the lifeguard events - but he competed in nearly every single one.  The first one he actually got to row "out of town" which I learned was a big thing.  They didn't win, but it was a great experience for him!   He had a couple amazing saves during the summer and I got to relax on his beach a handful of times.   One Friday night he came home and told me his head man had suggested that he dress as a Pharaoh and they would carry him in the stand using the boat oars to pick the stand up.   Good thing Amazon ships quickly - we were able to pull this together over the weekend and by Monday he was ready for his action shot.  I have a video of them picking him up - it didn't work the first couple of times (their rookie was a little too weak so they borrowed a guard from the next beach over) This shot went into their yearly ad book - by far the best beac...

Roe V. Wade

While responding to a post on social media today (FB) I realized that I am only contributing to the problem of not having face to face conversations.  I am genuinely interested in opposing points of views - so I am no longer going to post them on social media - but here, in my safe space.   Please feel free to share your views, whether I agree with them or not - you are safe here.   You may change my mind.  You may change another readers mind.  Or, your own mind may start to change.  But open dialog is desperately needed - so lets start.   I'm not real sure how I feel about the entire issue. I do believe that returning the power to the states as was originally intended was the right thing to do. If people don't like the laws in their own states, then they can vote in people that think like they do. That's how this entire thing is supposed to work. What saddens me is that this country is becoming more and more divided, and i...

Personal Responsibility

Thoughts for today - what happened to personal responsibility?   My husband is currently on vacation for the month of March - he works hard in the summer, so deserves a little R & R leading up to the hectic months.   Anyway - I was picking up rent the other day, and one of our long-term tenants - she's been with us maybe 25 years, had an issue with her kitchen lighting.   She only had one bulb working.  When I entered the house, there were 4 young men, probably in their 30s or early 40s, playing video games.  How in the world can she have son's, and support them, yet they cannot change a lightbulb.  Crazy times. Here's another case.   We got hit hard with COVid in 2020 - lots of our tenants couldn't pay, or couldn't pay in full.  We worked with them as we could, and did not charge late fees or anything.  One tenant couldn't be bother to make any payments - even though she was receiving money from the government....

Learning to Say No

Image
I am a people pleaser -which is odd because I don't really like people!  I know tons of people who say they don't like other people - but I really do not.  I don't trust most people, and for good reason.  Yet most times I'll still say "yes" when asked to do something.   But I'm learning to stand on my own two feet. Last weekend I helped with the High School's Erg-A-Thon because the head coach asked me to.   I actually like him as a person, even though he screwed up my son's senior year.  I do NOT like the assistant coach who is actually just a dad of another rower who graduated with my son.   I'll keep the why's to myself - but the head coach had wanted to take me to dinner tonight to thank me for helping last weekend, and also thank me for donating an erg.   I was going to go - because I'm going to need his help learning to row on the water this spring.  When I talked to him Monday - he never said he was inviting an...

Soul Searching

Image
Been doing a bunch of soul searching lately.   Trying to figure out why I let myself get to 360 pounds - what caused me to eat even when not hungry?   I'm sure it has to do with my childhood - I remember being so hungry that I regularly ate dried pasta uncooked because that's all I could sneak out of the house.   I thought I was soooo fat back then, but looking back, I wasn't - I was just freakishly strong.  It'll take a lot more soul searching, and maybe some therapy but at least I'm more aware. Same thing with working out.  Since Phil moved to Florida in August - I haven't worked out much at all.  It's just not the same.  I've tried to get back at it - but I'll find a million a one excuses - I'm really good at that.  I hired a new trainer after Phil left - he is a decent trainer, but young,  He's cancelled on me often - and while I get upset, since he's doing me a favor by getting there at 7 a.m. and hour before the pla...

New Year 2022

Image
What a way to start the New Year!!   Adam had a training trip at Stetson Univ in Florida, and like any good family member would - Leenah and I volunteered to travel to and from Florida with him, and while he'd be spending time with his fellow crew members - we'd rough it out at the spa.  Unfortunately Leenah had a mishap with her knee on New Years Even but was up for travel once she put her old brace back on.   Food was amazing !! We tried multiple new breakfast places - this one was a winner for sure !! We had pretty decent weather - never touched 80* but it was sunny enough to come home with a tan, relaxed and ready to start off 2022 healthier and happier !!
